Women on Solid Ground

Women on Solid Ground has been established to promote independence and well-being of women within the local community and wider City of Manchester.   

Who are we and who are the Services aimed at:

Community on Solid Ground (CSG) welcomes women from all groups of society to access its services as well as also specialising in working with women from Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities. We are a diverse team of staff and volunteers with knowledge and experience of providing services to women from different backgrounds.

Our main aims and objectives are as follows:

  • To promote social inclusion
  • To enable personal development
  • To improve mental and physical well-being
  • To provide Women with a platform to voice their opinions
  • To reduce isolation and tackle problems that lead to isolation
  • To empower women with the skills & knowledge to build their self-esteem, confidence and challenge stereotypes  

Currently we provide the following services:

ESF – CHANGING LIVES PROJECT  
The project engages with Women learners’ and provides them with a personal development programme that will enable them to move nearer to becoming part of the labour market. Through small group sessions and one to one key worker support we help women gain skills i.e. knowledge base, confidence building as well as create access to employment, further learning and training

First Aid
Accredited Training for ESF learners
This is 2 day training on First Aid in the workplace and First Aid for children. 
The aim of the programme is to enable learners to develop new and update existing skills to create a long term impact on the lives of learners and their families.  
Active Women- Healthier Lifestyles Project 
Fitness classes and Health awareness programme that looks at different aspects of women's health and wellbeing through discussions and presentations;
We aim to provide a safe environment where women can thrive. We promote personal development skills to create good mental & physical wellbeing, in order to strengthen resilience, self-esteem and confidence.  Keep Fit and Health Talk classes delivered on a weekly basis.

Coffee Morning/Drop-in Group
The Coffee Morning/Drop-in Group is a chance for ALL Women to get together, have a cup of tea or coffee and meet with other local women.

  • Pop in and have a chat
  • Meet Friends
  • Have a brew and a biscuit
  • Share experiences in an informal setting

Come along and bring others!

Older Women’s Group
Social club for women aged 50+, aiming to tackle isolation and promote independence of older women. Developing self-help and increasing awareness and understanding of current issues relevant to the needs of older women, for example health and wellbeing, exercise, support services and new legislation.

ACTIVIES AND SERVICES include:

Drop in, Coffee mornings, Group therapy, Support Group Meetings, Information and Advice, Welfare Benefits, Outreach, Home visits, Social Group for Women, Health Awareness and Exercise/Keep Fit, Personal Development Workshops & Classes. Social Events, Outdoor Trips, Newsletters
